Most Wiccans, neo-Pagans and Polytheists are somewhat familiar with the story of the West Memphis Three. Their trial and conviction was covered on The Witches’ Voice, www.witchvox.com, since the inception of the website. Peg Aloi and Kerr Cuhulain wrote extensively about the case, and the “Satanic Panic” of the 1990s. Many Wiccans and Goths identified strongly with the defendants, because one young man, Damien Echols, wore dark clothing, listened to metal music, read books about Wicca and Witchcraft, and had an “Emo” style haircut. And many of us believe that because of these lifestyle choices, Echols and his two school friends were wrongfully convicted of three murders.
